Liverpudlian born Paul O’Neill was first attracted to racing after seeing Nigel Mansell win the 1987 British Grand Prix. However, Paul originally came from a musical family, his mum and dad formed a band called T Junction and his sister is ‘Sporty Spice’ Mel C. Music was not his passion so attending the Jim Russell Race School he began racing in the MGF cup in 1999 and 2000 before entering the BTC Production Class in 2001 where he gained 8th place. In 2003 he came fourth overall with Vauxhall Motorsport. In 2004 he discovered he had diabetes and his racing licence was temporarily withdrawn. By September 2006 he was back in BTCC and returned to Brands Hatch after an absence of 2 years. Paul also generated a lot of media interest in this year. He appeared on Garner.tv for the launch of the Sony Playstation game Race Driver 3. He also featured in Channel 5’s motoring show 5th Gear comparing Petrol and Diesel hot hatches and also on the Gadget Show.
In 2007 he competed in the final round with Motorbase Performance.in the Belgium Touring Car Race and British Touring Cars. He also raced big American Prestige cars in a one off British GT race at Croft, N Yorkshire.
