Health and Fitness have always been big passions of Nell’s and she released her first fitness video ‘Peak Energy’ in 2002. Her 4th Fitness DVD entitled Cardio, Core and Stretch came out in December 2007. Following in this theme, Nell is currently the face of Activia Yoghurt in their autumn 2007 TV Commercial and is the face of YSX beauty range which is available from Independent Health Food shops. She has also been promoting several other healthy products including Omega 3 oily fish and California Prunes.
Nell hit our TV screens as one of the original cast of ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here’ where she raised over £60,000 for Cancer Research UK. Born in Leeds, Nell started modelling at 16 yrs old and has appeared on covers for FHM, Loaded, Zoo, and many health, fitness and hair magazines. She was also the first British woman in 27 years to appear on the cover of American Playboy. In 1996/7 Nell was the real life version of the game character of Lara Croft, when she toured the world promoting ‘Tomb Raider 3’. Nell has also published 5 Calendars in glamorous locations such as Tobago.
Nell has presented shows such as ‘Racing Rivals’ for ITV1 and ITV2, ‘It’s a Knockout’ and ‘Born to Fight’ for UK Horizons, where she trained with amateur boxers. For the Big Breakfast, she reviewed beauty treatments, and interviewed other celebrities, sharing their fitness tips and also hosted the MOBO Unsung Awards 2003.
Charity work is another large part of Nell’s work. She has run the London Marathon three times, running to raise over £100,000 which she donated to her four chosen charities; DebRA Cancer Research UK, the Lymphoma Association and SSAFA. She also supports NCH Children’s Charity and Help the Aged. Other charity fundraising events have included the Playtex Moonwalk for Breast Cancer Awareness, British 10K, Race For Life for Cancer Research, The Flora Light Challenge and The Great North Run. Over the years, Nell has helped to raise over hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities and continues to do so. Nell also carried the Olympic Torch over the Millennium Bridge as part of the Torch Relay to launch the 2004 Olympics. Nell became the Running Ambassador for Cancer Research UK for 2006 and also helps promote and runs in the Jane Tomlinson’s run for All Leeds 10K.
Nell loves a challenge! She was a passenger in a 2 seater Mclaren Formula One car, completed a tandem parachute jump at RAF Brize Norton with the parachute regiment, learnt how the tightrope walk and experienced a very sickly ride in a military Hawk jet.
Due to her work with the Armed Forces, visiting the troops at several bases in Northern Ireland, Germany and Iraq, Nell was privileged to meet the Queen at the Women in War Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in 2003 and was invited to Buckingham Palace for the Not Forgotten Society Garden Party, where she met war veterans of all ages. She also presented Prince Charles and Camilla with a commemorative tea set on behalf of the NAAFI as part of the 60th Anniversary of VE Day celebrations at St James’s Park. Nell has also received a commendation from the Queen for her work with the Forces in Iraq.
As well as all this, Nell was voted Yorkshire Woman of the Year in 2003, Zest Magazine voted her and Brad Pitt the fittest celebrities on the planet, and she won Rear of the Year along with Will Young.
August 2006, Nell became a ‘yummy mummy’ when she gave birth to a baby boy, Devon, who took part in a photo shoot in February 2007 with Nell for Comic Relief. He will also appear in a campaign for Pampers in connection with Unicef and for Scottish Milk.
